University Beavers vs Western Suburbs (Preview)

Location: Nairnville
Date: Saturday 17th May
Kick-Off: 12.30pm
Last time they met: 1-1 Draw. Kelburn Park. Round 2, 2007.

Match Preview:
The University Beavers play host to the Western Suburbs in an important fixture of week 7 of the Capital 10 Competition. The Beavers are sitting comfortable in 4th spot within reach of the leaders where as Wests are lingering dangerously at the bottom of the table.
The Beavers were impressive winners last week against an understrength Brooklyn XI and Wests proved they could foot it with the leaders in the comp, putting 3 goals on the Karori Aces in a goal fest away from home. With fine weather predicted in the lead up to this match, this should provide for an entertaining and high scoring match.Last years result will play on the minds of both teams. The Beavers will not want to settle for a draw this time round, where as the sole draw point would help Wests get their season back on track.

Where it will be won:
If the Beavers can hold out the Wests' goal scorers then they should be able to come out on top in this one. Having said that, it will be important that those Beavers playing up front put the ball in the back of the net. If the Beavers play with the width and time they have in recent weeks, their perfect record in the new strips should continue.

Key men:
Guy Simmo. Playing up front Simmo has gone without a goal for a few weeks. Touted as a potential Golden Boot recipient, it is important the Beavers get him back on the score sheet.
Mark Rooter. He has developed an uncanny ability to put himself in goal scoring positions. If he can put some of these opportunities home he will significantly bolster the chances of a Beaver victory.
Mad Dog Benton. His leadership at the back as been instrumental in the last 2 weeks. If he can rally his defenders together again they will prove hard to get through.

TAB Odds:
University Beavers $1.90
Western Suburbs $4.50
Draw $2.75

Prediction:
Beavers 4-0 Victory.
